Roll-off dumpster on a lawn for a backyard cleanup

Brush and tree debris

Yard Waste Dumpster Rental

Most brush and limb cleanups fit a 15-yard or 20-yard dumpster with 7 days and 2.5 to 3 tons included. Stumps and dirt are heavy and go in a 10 or 15-yard loaded halfway. Cover green waste before rain, because wet debris weighs more.

Deliveries 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Book by 3 PM for next-day delivery.

What size dumpster for yard waste and brush?

Brush, limbs and leaves are bulky and light, so most yard cleanups fit a 15-yard or 20-yard dumpster. Storm cleanups with whole trees fit a 20 or 30-yard. Stumps and dirt are heavy and go in a 10 or 15-yard loaded halfway.

How heavy is yard waste?

Dry brush, limbs and leaves are light for their size, so a yard cleanup usually fills a dumpster before it reaches the included tons. Green, freshly cut wood and rain-soaked leaves weigh much more, and stumps with soil are heavy debris. Cover the load if storms are coming.

How to load brush so more fits

Cut limbs to 4 to 6 ft and lay them flat in one direction, butt ends together. Fill gaps with leaves and small clippings. Keep everything level with the top rim, because an overfilled dumpster can't travel and a $125 dry-run fee applies.

Where the dumpster goes

Yard waste dumpsters often sit at the edge of a lawn, but soft, wet ground can trap the truck. A driveway is the safest spot, with boards under the rails.

  • Driveway protection: our drivers set wooden boards under the steel rails so the container does not crack or scratch concrete or asphalt.
  • Truck access: the roll-off truck typically needs about 60 ft of straight approach and about 23 ft of overhead clearance from wires and branches.
  • Street placement: a container on a public street or right-of-way usually needs a city permit. Your city page links the official rule.
  • You don't need to be home: the driver texts or calls 20 to 30 minutes before arrival. If the drop spot is clear, the drop goes ahead.

Blocked access (parked cars, low wires, a locked gate) means a $125 trip fee. More in dumpster placement and driveway care.

Questions renters ask

Can I put tree stumps in a dumpster?

Tree stumps go in a 10 or 15-yard dumpster with other heavy material, loaded no higher than halfway. Stumps carry soil and weigh far more than brush. Knock off as much dirt as you can.

Can I mix yard waste with household junk?

Yard waste and household junk can share one dumpster. The combined weight counts toward the included tons, and mixed loads are billed as regular debris.

Can grass clippings and leaves go in bags?

Leaves and clippings can go in loose or bagged. Loose material packs tighter around branches, so more fits.

Is a dumpster cheaper than curbside pickup for brush?

City curbside brush pickup is often free but has size limits and set schedules. A dumpster costs more but takes a whole lot clearing at once. Check your city page for curbside limits.
